JHA COVID PROTOCOLS 2021-22

As of August 24, 2021, JHA will follow the COVID Protocols that the Georgia Department of Public Health released on August 10, 2021.

    • Parents may choose the distance learning option.
    • Students who choose distance learning may not return to on-campus learning until the beginning of the next 8 week grading period. Classwork will be provided by Google Classroom/Zoom/work packets, etc. All classwork must be turned in on time and fully completed to be counted. Middle and high school students should expect to spend at least 7-8 hours a day on classwork. Elementary students should plan on 5-6 hours a day of classwork time.
    • Students who participate in distance learning or are quarantined for any reason may not attend or participate in any school function, sporting event, or be on the JHA campus for any reason.
    • Parents have the choice of whether or not their students may wear a mask to school.
    • Temperature checks will be conducted before entering the school building, before boarding the school bus, and at times during the school day.
    • If a student becomes sick at school, they will be isolated with supervision from the other students. Parents will be notified to pick up the student immediately.
    • If a student tests positive for COVID, they are to quarantine for fourteen (14) days. The student may return to school if they are symptom-free after quarantine.
    • If a student is exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID, the student does not have to quarantine as long as they are asymptomatic.
    • As a parent, you have a right to choose whether to quarantine your child for up to ten (10) days. Distance learning will be provided.
    • We will continue to notify parents of students who meet the “exposed” criteria, however, they will not be quarantined if they do not display symptoms.
  • Symptoms: fever (0ver100.4 degrees F), chills, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, headache, loss of taste/smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. 
    • It is imperative that symptomatic students and staff not attend school.
  • Please keep sick students home.
  • Frequent hand washing is encouraged. Hand sanitizer is available in the classrooms.
  • Traditional water fountains will be closed. Students may bring their own water bottle from home.
  • Students will eat meals in their classroom.
  • Only students and staff will be allowed to enter the school building during school.
  • Parent-teacher conferences are offered after school hours and by appointment only.
  • Students must wear a mask at all times on the bus.
  • Cleaning protocols are followed daily for classrooms and buses.
  • As a GISA member, JHA will adhere to its athletic practices and sporting event guidelines.
  • If any changes occur with the guidelines set forth by the Georgia Department of Public Health, parents will be notified.
  • Parents, please notify the school immediately if your student becomes sick.

2021-22 Required Annual Notification to Parents, Teachers, and Employees Regarding the Availability of Management Plans

The management plan for Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM) required by the Federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) has been performed for this facility.  The management plan is on file at the school office and is available for public inspection upon reasonable notice.  If desired, a copy of the plan may be obtained upon payment of a reasonable reproduction cost.

Copies of this dated notification shall be distributed to the organizations of parents, teachers, and employees; or, in the absence of such organizations, to the individual parents, and employees.  A copy shall also be placed in the school’s management plan and on the school’s website.
