There are many opportunities to excel academically at John Hancock Academy including academic competitions, which begin in the elementary grades with Science Fair, Chess Club and Spelling Bee. Middle school students also have the opportunity to compete in History Bowl, Math Bowl and Quiz Bowl as well as Geography Bee and History Fair.
For High School Students, One Act Play, History Bowl, Math Bowl, Quiz Bowl, Chess Club and Spelling Bee provide opportunities to excel. At the high school level, students can also participate in the GICAA Literary Competition which includes Piano, Vocal Solo and Trio, Spelling Competition, Dramatic and Humorous Interpretations, Duo Oral Interpretation and Personal, Argumentative and Rhetorical Essays.
Based on character, achievement and attitude, eligible students will also receive invitation to membership in Beta Club and have the opportunity to serve their community as well as compete in various events at the Beta Club Convention.
John Hancock Academy also chooses one or more select sophomore students to represent our school at the HOBY State Leadership Seminar each summer. This event teaches students to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community
