New Cell Phone Policy

New JHA Personal Electronic Device Policy

Personal electronic devices can take attention away from learning and lead to disciplinary problems.  Our goal is to help students stay focused by creating a learning environment free of unnecessary distractions. When distractions are removed, students are better able to engage, succeed, and grow.  All classrooms are equipped with a phone in case of an emergency.  If you need to contact your student, please call the school office, and our staff will make the student aware.  If a student needs to contact their parents, they may request permission to come to the office to do so.

Prohibited Devices:

Cell Phones

Smart Watches

Personal Tablets

Game Consoles

Wireless Headphones/Earbuds

Etc.

Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight as soon as the student arrives on campus.  If a staff member sees or hears a phone, the device will immediately be confiscated.  Students may not have the devices on themselves.  It should be turned off when they arrive on campus (not on silent, but powered off.)  Students may store the device in their bookbag, locker, vehicle, etc.  Elementary students should turn their device into their teachers.  Devices can be on after school is released, but no pictures, videos, etc.

If devices are seen or heard, they will be confiscated, and the student will be subject to the discipline procedure that is in the handbook.
